In my thirty years as a process and energy engineer, the special atmosphere of technical plants with their apparatus and installations always fascinated me. Since 1999 this has become the theme of my work as a sculptor.
For the series of works Industrial Profiles, my process uses elements of technical systems as templates. I search for the main features switching between logic and intuition. My interest lies in changes of expression based on the deconstruction, fragmentation and decay of the template. The results of this process are graphically developed, transferred to clay models and converted into stone sculptures.
Through this accelerated virtual fossilisation process, fragments of technical systems are converted into stony witnesses to our civilization. The archaic medium of stone is located between the imperishable and life in the fast lane.
